NestShield Cam: Smart Link

Your privacy, plainly stated

Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 10, 2026

At a glance

NestShield Cam: Smart Link works without an App account. Camera discovery, live viewing, saved plans, credentials, screenshots, and recordings are handled on your device. We do not operate a server that receives this information.

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy explains how NestShield Cam: Smart Link (the “App,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use the App. The App helps you discover compatible devices on a local network, connect to cameras you are authorized to use, view camera streams, plan camera placement, and save media locally.

2. No App account or online profile

The App does not provide App account registration, App sign-in, social-media sign-in, user profiles, public posts, messaging, or other social features. We do not use advertising SDKs, behavioral tracking, or analytics SDKs in the App.

This policy page and the App’s product page do not set tracking or advertising cookies.

3. Information handled on your device

To provide the features you choose to use, the App may handle the following information locally:

  • Local network and device information: Wi-Fi network status or name, local IP addresses, host names, device type, manufacturer details when available, connection status, scan results, and related network diagnostics.
  • Camera connection details: the camera name, network address, area or room, and credentials that you enter for that camera. Camera credentials are stored in the iOS Keychain on your device. They are used only to connect to your camera and are not App sign-in credentials.
  • Camera content and local media: live video streams, screenshots, and recordings from cameras you connect. The App processes this content for viewing and saves media locally at your direction.
  • Placement plans: layouts, room names, measurements, lens selections, camera positions, coverage settings, privacy zones, and any floor-plan image you choose to import.
  • App preferences: settings and trusted-device selections needed to preserve your choices on the device.

We do not receive this information on a developer-operated server. Your connected camera or its manufacturer may handle camera traffic under that manufacturer’s own terms and privacy policy.

4. Device permissions

Depending on the features you use, the App may request access to:

  • Local Network to find and connect to compatible cameras and other devices on the same network.
  • Photos when you choose to import a floor plan or save, export, or view local screenshots and recordings.
  • Face ID or device authentication to protect private media. Authentication is performed by iOS; the App does not receive or store your face data or device passcode.

You can review or change permissions at any time in iOS Settings. Some features will not work if their required permission is disabled.

5. Network connections

Camera connections and discovery occur between your device and devices on your network. If you use a network diagnostic feature, the App may make a standard network request to measure connectivity or latency. Like any Internet request, the destination can receive ordinary routing information such as your public IP address. We do not receive or store the result on a developer-operated server.

6. Information you send to us

If you contact us by email, we receive the email address, message, and any information you choose to include. We use it only to respond, provide support, protect the App, or meet legal obligations. We retain support correspondence only as long as reasonably necessary for those purposes and do not sell it.

7. Sharing and disclosure

We do not sell or rent personal information. Because the App’s operational data remains on your device, we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. Information you voluntarily send to support may be disclosed only when required by law, to protect rights and safety, or to vendors that help deliver email and are obligated to protect it.

8. Your controls and data deletion

You can delete saved cameras, plans, screenshots, and recordings through the App where those controls are available. You can also remove exported media through the Photos app. Deleting the App removes its locally stored App data in accordance with iOS behavior. You may contact us to request deletion of support correspondence you previously sent.

9. Children’s privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent personal information to us in a support request, please contact us so we can delete it.

10. Security

The App uses iOS protections, including Keychain storage for camera credentials and optional system authentication for private media. You are responsible for securing your device, local network, cameras, and camera passwords. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes to the App or legal requirements. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the date above. Material changes apply prospectively from the posted effective date.
